RE: Tracker II - Slug Gun
I was interested in the Tracker also. Nice, inexpensive gun & accurate. Something nice to bring hunting as a great back up - ya know a "just in case" deal.
There is not enough metal to safely drill and tap the barrel. You might want to see if a smith would braze a scope rail on it. A low profile rail might even allow you to still use the iron sights. I can't find the guys business card but call down to Buffalo Rock Range in Ottawa and ask them for the name of the gunsmith. One of their guys works at the smiths I believe and he has given me a couple business cards,I just can't find them. I'll bet he'll steer you in the right direction.
Where are you at in Illinois?
I've shot the Tracker a bit and the mags tell your shoulder excatly what they are and what the gun only weighs. Wow.
You might also be able to find some sort of "piggyback" scope mount where it clamps on the barrel and clamps on the scope tube. It mount the scope pretty far forward, I think they call it "scout-style".
As for the "heavy cannon" - I absolutely love my 12 gauge H&R USH Deluxe.
