I have a SBH 44 mag and would like to harvest a deer with it,besides mop up stuff, I have never taken a deer with a handgun before.I have heard people say that a 44 mag can take deer up to 100 yards but I have yet to find any ballistic tables for the 44 mag that give me 1000ftlbs of energy at 100 yards.I have been shooting it at the range at 50 and I shoot it ok. Anyway any advice will be appreciated on bullets that give me 1000ftlbs at 100 yards and also should I buy a scope or just keep the open sights,as I stated above at 50 I shoot ok with the open sights but never tried them at 100.

It's the operator that messes up....not the equipment.Have confidence in yourself and shoot straight.
