Default RE: RIG - and various gun care products

R.I.G. (Rust Inhibiting Grease) is a product for long-term storage of firearms, used a lot like the Cosmoline the military used to use for this purpose. However, unlike Cosmoline, R.I.G. stays soft, and consequently can be removed easily with just cleaning patches. It has been on the market for many decades, and, used according to directions, when applied to perfectly clean metal surfaces, will absolutely PREVENT rust and corrosion!! I use the stuff in bores and all other metal surfaces of guns that will not be used for over a year. For all guns that are used frequently, I use another product for rust prevention, such as Birchwood-Casey Sheath or Break-Free CLP. These are easier to apply, and don't leave big globs in the bore or on other parts, but do a good job preserving steel.

Keep yore powder dry!!
