I agree with the others,the .300 is a great deer cartridge. But you arent changing too much with the stw. I was thinking about getting one but I have changed my mind. I am just working with my .300 to improve my reloads and my shooting skills. If you would try a 25-06 or 6.5x55 or a .257 roberts you would like there killing power on whitetail. With less recoil your shooting skills will improve and with the right reloads the 25-06 will double as a varmit rig.
