RE: BARNES TRIPLE SHOCK BULLETS?
Poeple put way too much time into trying to hit the lands or be close to it. I know this, because this is the classic tale I hear "My gun shoot factory's great, but when I reload I havn't found a good shooting load, and I am putting the bullet .02" from the lands". Now, the factory ammo most of the time is .05 or even .1" in alot of cases, and in the case of my 300RUM's its .25" away. I tell them to take thier most decent load and load up some rounds going deeper, and deeper, and see what happens. All the time I get a call back saying, "wow, best groups I ever got when I loaded them deeper". Starting off, they were lucky to have "one caliber" into the brass, and the bullet looked like a missle. It was fragile also.
If I can't hit the rifling because of my mag (most of the time the case), I don't worry about it. Just start off with the longest you can, and back off from there. You might be amazed at how much more accurate you can be with a deeper seated bullet.
