I use a .308, not a .243.
The .308 is a great round, I think you'll like it.
Or, you could go with a 7mm-08.

Yeah, but he had the scope mounted too far back, but he didn't know it, so he fired 40 rounds through that thing, trying to hang onto the fore-arm.
