I knew this guy in Oklahoma who swore by the "anus shot", only he had a different name for it. He claimed nothing would take a deer down any faster. He shot a 300 Win Mag. One day he was showing off a nice buck in the bed of his pickup. He shot it through the right femur, right below the hip. The bullet when clean through the deer going through the heart, left lung, exiting him full lengththrough the brisket. He said it went right down and its tounge was hanging out when he got to it.
I had never really thought ofthe Gold Dot as an anus projectile, but I have to admit, it really did the job. Where did you recover the Gold Dot?
The Gold Dot was lodged between the two pelvis bones, right under the spine. I don't have a grain scale that goes to 300g, but my wife has a food scale. A new Gold Dot is exactly 20grams, and the recoved GD was just under the 20 line, so I figure some where between 20 and 50g of weight loss, but I am impressed with the mushroom and the way the petals expanded, hitting bone and stuff. Honestly it looks like one of those Barnes all copper jobs that are over $1.00 each. I agree with Saborloader (Mike) they are a good Nosler replacement at 1/4 the cost. Chap
