Default RE: How do I build a a rabbit trap or snare and is......

Rabbits live in bushy/thick wooded areas here where i live. When there is snow on the ground you'll see alot of tracks, so i dont start snaring until we get some snow. I'm not sure of any methods to lure rabbits, but what i do is i find a good well used trail, and set up a snare on it. Right now i'm just wondering if thewire i have is going to be thick enough. Once you find a good trail with lots of tracks, find a solid tree to attach one end of your snare to. place the snare loop about 3-4 finger widths off the ground (this is for the snowshoe hares in my area, they aren't the biggest rabbits, so adjust accordingly), and place brush around the snare as a sort of "funnel", forcing the rabbits to go into your snare. They aren't very smart animals, and if you can find a good trail and set up your snare properly, you seem to be almost guaranteed a rabbit. However, it is a form of hunting, and no hunting is "easy". Just keep at it, and keep learning. Snaring can be a very rewarding activity.
