I was thumbing through some old magazines just this morning when I came across an article of old timer tricks. One of the tricks was to use a rubber band to test broadhead sharpness as they simulate the resilency of arteries and veins. This is more true than some individuals would think. I the military we used surgical tubing that was slid underneath of a chicken breast skin to practice starting I.V.'s. Our instructor's told us it was as close to trying to poke the real vein as you could get without actually doing it (we much approved of this method of practice as the alternative was our own arms<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>). Anyhow when we practiced sticking those pieces of chicken it was just like the veins on a very much alive and cursing classmate (as you can guess we had to perform such a task to pass the course). Those little veins tend to roll away from a very sharp needle so it would stand to reason they are gonna resist a blade just as much. Now I dont reccommend using up your freezer stock just to test broadheads so what I will reccommend is smearing a light coat of petroleum jelly on the surgical tubing or rubber band then pass it over the edge of your broadheads. Remember not to keep the material tight as a guitar string, try to simulate the tension of the veins in your hand or arm (DONT TEST THE BROADHEADS ON YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!). Anyhow it is just a new twist on an old method.
