Try checking the state's DNR page for deer harvest numbers from the Selma area. The state biologist for that district can help you with all sorts of info. You picked the right time. If you hit the rut then I'm already jealous...Good luck!
From the weather reports, I'd dare guess the deer have been a lot more active this December than last December. Last year it was almost t-shirt weather for most of the month.
