BHW braves the wind & scores **PIX**
Gang,
On Saturday, I had an all nighter planned to hunt at my cottage. The hour plus drive was a rainy disaster and I questioned my decision to attempt this hunt. As I approached, I noticed the skies were clearing and all was going to be fine. However, the wind was blowing strong as the flags were flying straight out. At 4:30 PM, I was set up and eager to go. I stayed 1.5 hours at the first location and took a lovely shut out! Then the rain came again and I bailed.
I went to a local convienence store and purchased some pizza. I asked for the 4 remaining pieces and I was pleasantly surprized when the clerk gave them all to me for $ 1.75 total (half a pizza) because they were not as fresh as normal.
I settled in at the cottage and watched the football playoffs and ate the pizza. It was now a little after 7:00 PM. I kept checking the weather and the wind was picking up! It was miserable!!
It was now 11:00 PM, and the wind was still blowing strong. I set the alarm for 1:00 AM and went to sleep. At 1:00 AM, it was still blowing, so I set the alarm for 3:00 AM. When I awoke, the wind was still blowing!!!
I went out anyway, praying that I might find some wind protected areas.
On the second set, I got eyes right away! He came to the foxpro cottontail distress and I shot him at approx 50 yards. The time was 4:10 AM.
I continued to hunt until 7:50 AM, but saw and heard nothing
Here he is in the daylight...
