Christine B, Your 100% correct we always learn. I guess when you sit and read all replies you see a little more. Yes I don't like to see outdoor programs when the adult lifts the gun up and then takes the safty of so the kid can shoot. That to me seems like the kid is not ready to handle a high power rifle, and if someone says "that they were ready" their not. They should have to load, handle, and aim all themselves. I beleive that in my state to hunt with a gun you have to have pass a gun safty class, and then you still have to have an adult with you until 14.
