I trap, and let me tell you I get lots of calls about fox damage to chickens, lots, way more then coyote. I also get calls about bobcat damage, but there is nothing to do about them as they are protected in our state.
Sorry to get so defensive, I just hate to see sportsman bicker and argue. We need to stay united, there are enough out there against all of us.
Fur is a valid way to offset your cost of hunting. Fox right now are going at a great price, coyotes are up and down. Also raccoon populations are at a all time high. They carry many diseases, distemper, rabies, mange , to name a few. These diseases get passed along to domestic pets and animals. Just today I was at a farmers house for trapping permission. His farm dog had mange, last year I caught 4 coyotes at his farm all with mange.
