HighDesertWolf – Thanks for responding. In a nutshell, I plan on using either a 30-30 170 flatnose or a 30-30 150 round nose out of my .308 26 inch Encore barrel at about 2,200 or 2,300 fps. According to my Hornady manual, this is a somewhat reduced .308 load and closely approximates the standard 30-30 load. Maybe just a bit faster than the 30-30.
Do you think I’ll have any problems with the bullets disintegrating or over expanding on deer? The last thing I want is to push the lighter constructed 30-30 bullet to fast and wound a deer.
