Retrieverman: Well I was thinking 180 grain so I wouldn't have to rezero my rifle. So I would only have to buy 1 type of ammo that I could use on deer to elk sized game. I'm just not sure if the 150 grain from a 300 WSM would be sufficient for Elk? But Winchester claims that their new XP3 ammo can do the job - thats what I'm trying to get opinions on.
I completely understand now. I do believe the 180 grs would be better suited for elk in most ammo, but what are going to be hunting the most? I just looked up the XP3 ammo, and there is not enough difference in the 150 gr and 180 gr to worry about it. I would shoot the 150 grs at everything. As a matter of fact, I will probably change to them myself.
