I also learned not to tie a slip knot in your line used to hoist up your bow and pack.
When lowering, if you're not careful, you can untie your pack and send your equipment into a free fall, and it may be in low light.
I lost my camera, binoculars, four carbon arrows and had a heck of a mess to clean out of my pack, since my coffee thermos and a bottle of "active scrape" were also broken inside of my pack.
