I just bought the Browning Gold Deer Hunter and my safety is also stiff, but I manage it using my index to push it and my thumb on the other side to make sure to avoid the stiff snapping sound. I hope it breaks in a bit over time and becomes more silent.

I have two other issues that I need to figure out. First, the spent slug shells do not always clear the gun. They get stuck in the receiver sometimes. Second, occasionally, the shells get stuck in the magazine and don't feed the next round.

Have you experience any of these? I may exchange from a new one. I never expected this type of trouble from a new Browning
