As far as cleaning I use a Lenspen. I haven't used the blizzard covers, don't know if they flip up. The standard covers have a red release lever on the ocular lens covers and two tabs on the objective covers.
Natchez Shooters Supply usually has the best price on the Butler Creek caps. The only problem is they have a $35 minimum order.
If the lenses are real dirty you might try cleaning them with some eyeglass or camera lense cleaner.
