well guys...made it back from my mountain trip. hunted hard from tuesday till friday. all day tuesday was deer hunting with the flintlock and most of the day wed. hunted around the camp in the mornings and nothing. hunted with my buddys uncle and a few other guys pushing to us in other areas..not much. seen 1 small buck that was it. our drivers seen some deer but nothing to write home about. tuesday evening i took the shotgun out and got my limit on grouse. i love hunting them things. thursday we didnt make it out the door till noon or so and alot of our guys left about 3pm so we grouse hunted that day but couldnt find many birds. today we grouse hunted a bit and missed a couple and took down all the trees stands..all in all a good trip but im disappointed in the deer. my buddys will argue till they are blue in the face but the deer just dont live on the mountain behind camp. the first day they see a bunch every year..but other then that nothing. they dont live there..travel though once in a while and are pushed into there by other guys..this was my 3rd time up there...i wont plan on serious deer hunting there anymore just because all the land we can hunt doesnt hold much deer..but it was a good trip. i was the only one to kill anything. 2 grouse and a red squirrel. relaxed..climbed allllllot of mountains and ate well. cant complain. back to the grind at 7am tomarrow. i dont know my schedule next week yet but im plannin to be back in the tree with the bow a couple more times...i go down kickin and screamin..but ill make it on stand a few more times hopefully.
