I find it hard to believe that it would work better than our system. With our system, they can at least get a percentage of people that aren't sending in their report cards. With their system, they have no idea how many people took deer strait home and processed their deer.

We'll never get an exact count of how many deer were killed.Even ifwe had a system where everyone had to report whether they were successful or not, there's no way to be 100% accurate. It will always be an estimate but at least now, they have an idea of how many people don't report their kills. We'll never know how many deer are shot and not tagged, poached or shot and not recovered. On top of that you'll still get the brain children that will report false harvests in an attempt to skew the results.Any way you look at it,every agency will always have to estimate the harvest. That blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the hunters who are too irrrsponsible to report their harvest, not on the PGC.

DougE,
you are probably right that a system like Illinois has still wouldnt get em all so how about this... At seasons end, every hunter has to call one more time and make a season report or they either dont get a license next year or they pay a penalty to get it. Sure, some will still lie and some will forget anyway but it would get closer.

Sure we have the calcualted reporting rates but they also dont take into consideration the guys who process their own deer and dont send in the cards. A problem you find with the call in system. I've not seen anywhere that they have a way to account for that.
