Evil? Moi'? <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

You can learn a lot from magazines, but keep in mind that you can't always believe everything you read.

Not trying to burst anyone's bubble, but I dropped my subscription a couple or three years ago. The reason was that there was an article about a fellow, and it gave a very strong impression that this fellow made a certain bow. As best as I can remember, the fellow was never actually referred to as the bowyer, but there was a picture of him in his shop applying the finish to some bows (which is all he does to them as far as the actual finished product), and there was nothing said to make the reader believe that he didn't actually make them. Well, I am VERY familiar with this certain bow, and I KNOW who makes them. That really turned me off--I just completely lost faith in it.

I am in no way slamming the fellow that was interviewed--I have heard that he is a great guy, an exceptional shot, and a very good hunter. I was actually shocked that he agreed to let the article be printed--maybe he didn't see the final edit before it was published? Maybe nobody at the office, other than the writer, knew any better--but, if not, they should be more careful of what they print. Misleading information, especially by entities that are supposed to be icons, is a really big peeve with me.

I also know of an article since then that was published by a writer who, in my opinion, in no way should be representing our sport (or any hunting sport as far as that goes) in any way, shape, or form. Again, a big turn off for me, and another case of somebody not doing their homework.

Now, I know I have probably opened a can of worms here. Sorry if I have offeneded anyone. I am NOT trying to talk anyone into dropping their subscription. Just advising that you do a little research on things that have any meaning to you, because like I said at the beginning of this post....you just can't believe everything you read. Even if the writer and/or publisher is being honest, they might not have done their homework.

P.S. CT, you are more than welcome here--heck, you can even bring Kip with you. Kip, the main thing you gotta' learn if you move here is that NOBODY here says &quot;eh?&quot; <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
