Default RE: New Omega Changes!

Sabotloader,
Only the TC Pro Hunter has the 90 degree breech plug turn EXCEPT fora Co who makes a 50 BMG single shot. Threads are only on two sides of the breech plug 180 degrees apart. Looks similar to a Encore frame w/ the first yr ever hammer that can be rotated to the left or rt for either hand use. TC make an adapter to convert the older encores. too..

This afternoon I borrowed an older welded stylefluted barrel assy. and went to the range for some testing to compare old to new. While the new exterior fluting is more professional and fades out on the ends that is the only thing similar to the eye @ first. From the pic's above this older barrel is different in that itdid not leak one speck of primer powder to soot the scope using standard Winchester 209's.
I'm convinced that every barrel is different and they like to eat different things. This barrel shot fantastic w/ 110 grains of RS , standard 209 winchester primers and had the same impact point w/250 gr SST's and 245gr powerbelt. Zero breech fowling. After playing awhile I switched to T777 and right off felt a big difference in recoil, fire out the front, smoke, andthat anonoying crud ring. I could not believe but both bullets grouped together and 2+ inches low.
Grouping was great w/ both powders but the RS held tighter hands down.
Don't know why, it just did. In the manual it never mentions T777 and you know what it says on the barrel too.
So as I was told years ago w/ any rifle, smokless or not you have to work up a load for each bore.
One thing I did doto help accuarcy was free float my barrel. I used two brass plates I cut from1/4 of a set ofhinges I bought @ Lowes. Pull the center pin and cut with a hack saw and use a file. It was raised .050. I picked one that allowed very minimun cutting and dropped into the two milled out slots in the wood lam stock. Hereare a couple more pic's.Just use sandparer on a flat surface to make the surface flat and debur.

Worked for me and I saw great results. Now I will have to see why these changes were made to the new Omega cause I don't like the the ones made @ the breech..

Note the fade out @ the ends of the flutes>>>

BTY, The barrel serial # on the older fluted assy is S77713. Why some one sold it w/ that serial # is beyond me cause it is a shooter!
