The 270 WSM, does overpower the .270, but, that doesn't allow you to hunt any larger game with it.
I guess that depends on what size game you plan on limiting yourself to. For me, a premium bullet placed in the proper spot, is more important than the cartridge in question. 270 WSM + Barnes TSX = dead grizzly bear and bull moose.
