Birdman, you sound like you're going down the right road to me.

Somewill say arguably that Anschutz builds the best quality OTC 22's there isand I tend to agree with them. More Olympic medals have been done with Annie's than any other. I dont have any experinces with their 22's but do have a couple of the 17 HMR's and they are fabulous rifles..... excellent workmanship,wood/metal fit is great, nice walnut stock, awesome triggers and areaccurate, but with this, they are not going to be priced with a walmart savage, marlin etc. They are anywhere from $600 on up new and you can ocassionally find them used for less.

Other makes that might interest you if you are wanting to step up in quality are the Cooper M57 LVT (I have one in 17 HMR) and the Kimber K22 or SVT. These are also great rifles and very comparable to the Anschutz's. It just that the later has so many variations to choose from.

Either way you choose I am sure you wont be disappointed.

If I was in the market for another 22 I would pick between these makers.
