Default RE: Is the .308 really second class to the .30-06?

i re-load for both .308 and .30-06. Have killed a few hundred deer with the 06. Killed a few with the .308.The deer nevernoticed any difference in "killing power." Theysimplybang-flopped most of the time.

Been reloading .30-06 forover 35 years-the .308 for 20 years. The .30-06 can be loaded to exceed .308 velocities with any bullet out there.Grain for grain the .308 is more efficient. The .308may be alittle more accurate overall.

Have Remington 700s in .308 and .30-06. Both are left hand. The actions of both are glassed and the barrels floated. Sometimes load up the .30-06 with 150 grain bullet and an amount of IMR 3031 that you would not believe-no pressure signs at all. This load is into.300 Win. Mag. velocities. My 700 is very accurate with such heavy loads.

No, the .308 is not second class to anything. Buy your gun in either caliber. The game animal will not know which gun the bullet came from.
