RE: "PA deer mismanagement"
I'd rather have RSB give a habitat Game Lands tour of Game Lands 12 & 36, not some PGC choosen area.
You shouldn't have to feel threatened or afraid to come to a USP gathering. Mr. Slinsky is a gentleman as are the rest of us.
The solution to many of the problems on public land and especially Game Lands is simply CUT the TREES! Small lot clear cuts interspersed with varrying degrees oftimbergrowth. Good for Deer, good for Turkey, and good for grouse. Not to mention tweety birds and little critters. Cutting the trees also rewards the agency with much needed cash. It would also force the stabelization of timber prices.
By not meeting their own goal of 1% yearlytimber cuts the agency denied themselves of some $10 Million Dollars each year. Most of this occured under the management of Vern Ross. I can onlyhope that Carl roe has more business sense. Although, it seems to be "Business As Usual" at Elmerton Ave. Same stories, same faces, more of the same problems.
It's time for a major change in management. Maybe DCNR has a plan?
