RE: Ballistics
Well some of the new high tech muzzleloaders are allowing people to shoot much further then a standard shotgun. Lets hope those that use the muzzleloaders have some training in their use.
This last modern season I heard someone start shooting and fired at least 10 or more shots in a row. I stood there and laughed because I knew that was a deer they were not hitting. At least I hoped not, as grinding them into hamburger in the woods makes them harder to carry out and the hair gets all over everything.
A friend of mine has a pump shotgun, I think it is a Remington 870 but could be wrong. He bought a special barrel for the thing. He mounted a 4Xscope on the shotgun, and claims he can place a special made slug (forget the name of them) out to 150 yards off shooting sticks. I was kind of surprised when he said that he could shoot that far with a shotgun. I always considered them a 100 yard weapon.
Then my brother's father in law once shot a deer with open sights on a shotgun at over 200 yards. He had a deer standing out in the middle of their corn field and did a hail mary, and spined it. I think I did not make a lot of points when I told him that was a foolish shot to even try, but then,I never could keep my mouth shut.
