Default RE: types

Since you're planning on using it for hunting, check your State as to minimum requirements for big game. I'd go with either around 40 pounds at your draw length, or your State requirement if it's more. Forty will take down a deer size animal though with a good arrow and broadhead.

Remember though that your draw length is usually about 1-2" shorter then what it is with a compound.

As far as types, I'd get a decent used one and see how you like it for a while. If you decide you don't like it, you can usually sell it and get the money back on it.

I'd also recommend not starting with one of the short type recurves/longbows that are out there today for your first one. I'd say about 62" minimum.
