RE: WI hunters kill wolves
Wisconsin has a deer population of appproxiomately 1.5 million deer. Assuming your numbers are correct, wolves kill 22,500 deer (450 wolves X 50 deer)annually, or approximately 1 1/2% of the population. 45,000 deer aresalvaged annually from vehicle crashes. Salvaged means reported, tagged and carried away. The actual numbers of deer killed by vehicles is much higher. This data is available on the WI DNR site. Google it if interested.
My point in this discussion is not, and has not been, to discuss the value of reintroducing the wolf into any state or geographic area. My issue is the open support in this post for breaking the law. I was always taught and taught my children that whether you agree with alaw, rule or decision, you obey it until it's rescinded.
I learned this lesson well from my parents and especially well while in the service of my country. I never disobeyed or debated an order from a superior officer, even if I disagreed vehemently because I knew better.
My concern is for the youth that reads these posts and get the idea that as long as one disagrees with the basis of a law, they're free to break it.By the way, I grew up in a rural community and for my money you can take the SSS rule and bury it along with all of the other macho BS that's been promoted in this thread.
