Glad to hear it turned out ok. I have an older API stand and I had that exact same thing happen to me a long time ago. Bottom section went all the way to the ground. Luckily for me, I was only about 12ft up, so I hung onto the top peice and jumped down.

One thing about that situation....I have NEVER forgotten to tie the stands together since then. I'm sure you won't either.
