My experience with the 375 and 416 is that the recoil is essentially the same. Its substantial no doubt, but manageable. The 416 seems to be more of a push as opposed to a sharp jab. the recoil of each isn't as severe in my experience as the 375 ultra, or even 338 ultra. the ultra's seem to crack the heck out of ya, while the H&H and 416 seem to rock your body back. I don't if what I've said makes any sense to anyone else or not, but Its the best I can do to explain.

FYI the 416 seems to packmore punch to the animals.
