If your dad wishes for a 30/30 then by all means grant him his wish. If cost is a concern then why not one in a Marlin 336 or Winchester 94? Either one could be had new for around $350-$450, at least that is what they are going for around here. What happens if you get him the .250 and he is not happy with it? I am sure that he would show happiness, but maybe deep inside he would still be wishing for the ole trusty 30-30? If your ole man is like mine he would act thrilled on xmas, but then the gun might not come out of the gun cabinet during hunting season and he would still be using his old standbye, either the 30-30 or the .270.......
He wants a Model 99. Not a Marlin or Winchester. I'm not getting him anything until he tells me that's what he wants. model 99s in .30-30 are over $675.
