don't plant pea's. we planted a 10 acre pea field one year on an out of state lease, the deer would pull the pea stalks out of the ground and eat them when they got about 4-6" tall. i imagine pea's would be good if you could keep the deer away from them until they matured but we couldn't. seemed like they pulled up and ate every plant in one night. if you had the finances, i would try some of that clover they advertise all the time.
