Buy yourself a good hunting book and then decide what type of hunting you want to do.

Then if you decide to hunt with a rifle, go buy a book called "shoot better II".

The first chapter will tell you everything you need to know and understand about a bullet once it leaves the barrell. The rest of the book is nothing but tables/ballistic charts. Use them to pick your new rifle.
