Default My Cookie Buck

[font=Comic Sans MS]I call this buck my cookie buck cuz of the way it happened. My son and I where hunting Mulie's up the Eniat River in Eastern Washington(Unit 247) Where in 1994 they had a big fire and this was the first late archery season they have had in this area since the fire.It was December 1st 2002 and it was cold and foggy and had freezing fog. We had just hiked out a canyon where we had seen a nice buck the day before. right at daylight while walking in the canyon we spotted the 4x4 agian. We split up to try to put a stalk on the buck. But as is why there big...cuz they're smart....lol the big buck gave us the slip and i had made it back to my truck having a snack waiting on the boy to return. While snacking on chipsahoy chocolate and peanut butter cookies and drinking a mtn. dew, i heard the sounds of antlers clanking together. I grabed my bino's to look through the freezing fog and about 120 yrds away i could barely make out 2 bucks locked up. So i assessed the situation and came up with a quick plan to climb up the canyon using a dead snag as a blocker between me and the buck.as i crawled up the canyon i looked through my bino's and seen he was a legal buck (in Washington for mulies its 3 point min....one side)So i kept that dead snag between me and the buck getting to with in 40 yrds. This would be where i have to shoot from because of a brush pile in front of me. I started to draw my bow back to full draw then side steped the dead snag as the buck took one step forward exposing his vitals. Ok all i have to do is place the 40 yrd pin behind his shoulder and shoot....easier said than done...lol Ok i did that then shot. the arrow flew true to its mark.As the buck ran down the hill at full speed for 50 yrds then stopped. I grabed my bino's agian to watch the buck he stood there for about 15 sec. then took two steps and disappeared. After locating my son to tell him i shot a buck we tracked the buck to where i last seen him and looked down the canyon about 10 feet and there he layed.was a text book stalk and track.......just the way we like them.....good hunting everyone......Bob
