Like Frontier Gander said, you pretty well answered your questions. Look at the Lyman Great Plains Rifle/Hunter, the Lyman Trade Rifle, Lyman Deer Stalker, Cabela's Hawkins, Cabela's Carbine, and then there are some Thompson Center Hawkins and Renegades out there in the auction sites in the larger caliber in flintlock. Don't under estimate the .50 caliber. But I can not blame you for wanting a .54 caliber or bigger. I like the larger bore rifles myself.
