I think they have run the gammut with the 338's now with the Fed at the low end, the 338-06 another 100fps up, then the 338WM another 100fps up, then the 340WM another 100 up then the UM and Lapua another 100 or so up! If ya can't find a 338 to your liking now your TOO PICKY!!! LOL!
I think Dave Scovill came up with a 375-06 a few years back called the 375 Scovill and he also had something to do (I think) with the 411 Hawk which I believe is an 06 case taken up to 411". I have heard that both of these are popular with Alaskan guides chambered in Winchester 1895's. The 338 Federal should perform well with the same bullets that work in the 338-06, namely the 185 TSX, 210 NP, 200 AB and 225 A-frame. Should be good enough for Elk size critters out to about 300 or so.
