I really dont believe that the amount of money you pay has any relation to the quality of work you can expect from a taxadermist. where i get my deer done they charge $275 and the guy does only about a 100 deer a year. This year im doing a flehming thing and am paying $350. No big deal. The guy has a bunch of awards from various shows to prove he is good. I have seen many of rough fuzzy mounts that have cost guys close to $500.
