No doubt you your shot hit that coyote. But exactly where did you hit him at 550yds? The exact point of impact cannot be verified unless you recovered the body.
Taking one shot at that distance verifies nothing as far as trajectory because variances in both temp. and humidity can effect the bullets flight path, either upwards or downwards.
This info comes not from just looking at ballistics charts but from actually shooting at distances out to 600yds.
