RE: Dad's thinking about a Muzzleloader
Its nice when you can sit in a blind or tree stand and get those 10-50 yard shots, thats when the heavy conicals are nice. But when you are looking at a 120-160 yard shot out in the open with barely any sage brush for cover, those heavy conicals are not the ones i want to shoot. I used the 385 great plains bullet this year and wasnt impressed at all with the work they did. i like a bullet in the 295+ range for mule deer. A 500 grain bullet where i hunt would be worthless for me. I was just simply wondering how the white rifles shoot lighter weight bullets is all. I like them also, especially the one roger raglin used to shoot in his younger years. I think dicks sporting goods still sells the power punch bullets. I like the lighter weight bullets because they shoot flatter and dont give me the rainbow tragectory.
