exactly flatland hunter. Why would you want to shoot a light weight conical? I hunt deer with a 500 grain conical. I shoot 70 grains of Triple Se7en 3f powder. It would be deadly at about any range I wanted to sight the rifle in for. I could hunt them with a 460 grain or even a 320 grain REAL conical, but the accuracy is fantastic with a 500 grain and I am almost assured of pass through.

If I wanted to hunt elk I would kick that load up to 100 even 120 grains of powder and a 500 grain conical. With a good peep sight, again, working up the load, this would blast an elk off their feet or make them want to soon lay down, at some very respectable distances.

Whilea heavy conical might have a more rainbow trajectory, the fact still is that the energy will be there at the end of the ride. Also the manner you sight in really negates the rainbow trajectory. Some White shooters with scopes are taking deer out to 200 yards without problems... pretty good thump for a big conical out there.
