It just isn't needed on smaller amimials, and doesn't have enough case capacity for the bullets that SHOULD be used on big animials!
Wouldn't the exact same thing apply to the .358 Winchester if it applys to the .338 Federal? Assuming you would want an equally high section density number on both bullets.
If a fellow handloads and has a Mauser chambered in 8X57,he can beat the 338 Fed. ,and now that they have a 325WSM they are and will be better constructed bullets...The old war horse8X57 looks better and better , with modern powders and high quality bullets...
If a fellow is hand loading the 8mm Mauser then why wouldn't he also hand load the .338 Federal and surpass both the 8mm Mauser hand loaded and .338 Federal factory loads?
