I use 2 3/4" Winchester Partitian Gold Sabots 385 gr at 1900 feet per second out of my Ithica slug gun (rifled barrel). Hits like a ton of bricks and is dead accurate. The only negative is they are expensive but worth it to me. You really have to shoot them to see if any slug will fly well from a particular gun.
Ditto on the Partition Gold slugs! I wouldn't be shy taking a 200 yarder with those, and boy oh boy do they pack a whollup.
I shoot an Ithaca Deerslayer.
Lightweight gun + heavy slug load & high FPS = dead shoulder.
BUT, You don't notice this AT ALL when that big buck is in front of you.
