Well, when I got the sucker it was rusted as heck and the stock is just about as worn out as you can imagine.

I cleaned it real good (still do once a year) and put itin a case up on the wall.

I suppose the answer to your question is respect/sentiment.

My uncle was nearing his end when he gave it to me and its a respect thing to just look at it, admire it, and take care of it.

I am looking for a pic....when I find one I will post it.

Besides, I have my AR for .223 stuff.
