Default RE: Disappointed in my ammo

In the ideal sense, any of the .30 caliber cartridges should do the job on a 130 lb boar with decent shot placement.

In my opinion, there is too much emphasis on the expanding/fragmenting type of rounds out there. I have shot many, many hogs, square in the shoulder with a fully jacketed .223. I am sure that will draw some criticism....but I have never had one go more than a few yards.

That round will turn into the size of a grape after going through the shoulder. Bear in mind "fully jacketed." I have yet to have a boar stop that round in the shoulder/plate.

Anyway, if he only went a few yards....I would not be upset with your ammo.

best of luck
