This thread and all the inspirational thoughts about Jesus and Christianity in the "parents just dont understand" thread got me to thinking...
On the rare occasion I'm watching 60 Minutes, I too turn it off when Andy Rooney comes on. What I don't understand is all this liberal bashing. True liberalism has nothing to do with gun control, eliminating public prayer, etc. All a genuine liberal wants is for the establishment to have a change of heart about people it hates and treats as subhuman.
Jesus was a liberal. In His time it was about prostitutes, tax collectors, and other "undesirables" looked down on by Temple authorities. His message was that these people were human beings who were just as deserving of love as the "righteous." (MORE deserving in fact if the righteous were hypocrites!) In our time homosexuals, foreigners, and racial and religious minorities are the "undesirables."
Let's leave it to God to judge others. After all we're told "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." I know Andy Rooney is terribly misguided on this issue, but would Jesus put him down by calling him a "liberal" or a "*****" or a "******"? <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle> In fact, would Jesus put him down at all? Wouldn't He instead gently correct Rooney without all the insults?
