Default RE: corn ?????

Plant Field corn, Picking corn is best - but a little more expensive than Silage corn, either will work. Do not plant sweet corn for deer, maybe a little for yourself along the edge.

It might be best if you can contract a farmer to plant for you. It really should be planted in rows, and either sprayed or cultivated a few times. Corn can be difficult to grow well, and good equipment makes a huge difference. A farmer, may also be able to spray for you, which can help, and they have experience with how much Fertilizer, especially Nitrogen, to put down, and at which stage of growth.

If you decide to plant yourself, Use a cornplanter, and 150lb/acre of 15-15-15 fertilizer as a starter. Then in early July add 100-150 lb/acre of UREA (0-0-46) when the corn is about knee high.

The above is just a guideline - If your area has high levels of N in the soil, you may not have to sidedress N at all. A soil test is very helpful in this case.

Good luck.
