RE: Checked by a Warden last night
I've actually been approached twice this year. A middle aged warden when my son and I were loading his deer on my truck. This warden was super nice, you could tell he was checking everything out as he talked. He asked several times if we had any questions, because Wisconsin has lots of rule changes etc with the CWD areas.
The second time a young warden watched from the parking lot of a public hunting grounds as I walked back via some fields and then he drove back on a service road past me. He stopped and said "you got here real early this morning" I don't know how he knew that, but I did. I like to get set up in my climber a good half hour before light. He didn't pursue the question any longer once I said yes I did, it takes a while to get in and set up the climber. And also that I had my bow in a case as I walked out, which meant I had the case as I walked in, not violating the no bow uncased 30 minutes before season law.
THEN, theres the other warden that just left for Northern Wisconsin. She was just a bitty. I only had one meeting with her and all I'd heard about her was validated. She just kept grilling me and my son like we were breaking the law. We were gun hunting in a early season and I had my muzzleloader. For my supplies I used an old hard shelled camera case that looked like a pistol case. I don't know how many times she grilled me about do you have a pistol. It was unreal. I'm glad shes gone.
The funniest story I heard about her was when she apparently seen some poachers or thought she did back in the farm fields. So she turned off her lights to race back through the fields to catch them. She ran into the farmers rake which was parked in the field.
Sorry this was so long
