For normal single zero rifle hunting. . . I would probably get the 3006. Besides, when you get to Two Dot Montana and forggot your shells. . .The grocery store will have 30'06 shells in stock so your trip isn't ruined. If you ask for 300WSM, the will tell you to drive a 1/2 day either way to the "city."

The 30'06 just plain gets it done. It may not shoot bears at 400 yards, but bears are shot at 100 yards or less. Same with other game and distaance.
