That's actually pretty good, b/c in Pennsylvania, the archery hunter success rate for antlered deer is around 10% (28,700 bucks in '05 for approx. 300,000 archery hunters).
On its face, 21% seems low, but when you think about it, we're actually doing pretty well as a group. Tagging a whitetail buck with your bow isn't easy, and those harvest report numbers from Pennsylvania reflect that. I'd attribute our increased success rateto the fact that(at least from my experience)the guys who frequent and contribute to this type of websiterepresent a large part ofthe most informed and dedicated segment of the hunting population.
Congrats to the guys who have been successful so far,and I'm sure that there are some guys who are still hunting whowill come through in the next month or so.
